While CompTIA doesn’t require a minimum level of experience for candidates, it recommends nine to 12 months of experience in the field or in the lab. You need a minimum score of 675 (on a 100-900 scale) to pass.
Candidates taking Exam 220-1001 should be able to demonstrate these core skills, among others:
- Installing, configuring and maintaining PCs, mobile devices and software
- Diagnosing, resolving and documenting common software and hardware problems
- Providing customer support to end users and applying troubleshooting
- Understand basic concepts such as desktop imaging, virtualization and networking
The Computing Technology Industry Association is the non-profit organization dedicated to validating and education the professionals with their line of certifications. They are not twisted to any marketing schemes and are vendor neutral. The CompTIA A+ certification covers the fundamentals of computers, installation, and configuration of PCs, laptops, related and networking, it will also test your skills in installing and configuring operation systems, and common configuration features for mobiles and computers. The exams you have to pass to get CompTIA A+ Certification are 220-801 and 220-802. The CompTIA A+ certification exam questions are all multiple choices and are currently the sole vendor-neutral certification that also covers IBM compatible systems. You can take the certification exam anywhere around the world in any of the Pearson VUE centers. Historically CompTIA A Plus had lifetime validity but the certification now demands to be renewed every 3 years.
